→ 그러나, IP를 ‘위해’ 개발된 것은 아님!

1. Roles of Datalink layer

• Framing
• Error control
• Flow control
• (In shared link) Medium Access Control (MAC)

+) Datalink layer에서 위의 것들을 수행한다고, 다른 계층에서 이것들을 ‘전적으로’ 위임하지는 않음 → 위임은 하되, 신뢰를 하지 않기 때문에, 중복되는 역할이 있을 수 있음.

IP는 데이터링크 계층에서 정확히 무슨 일이 일어나는지 세세히 알 필요가 없음.
